There Is No Sin is a music project by Troy Keiper. Although sometimes performing live, as a three or four-piece band, it was started in 2006 as a recording concept called There Is No Sin in My Body.
The current name is a shortened version of a quote from the Egyptian Book of the Dead. It was from a translation of the Papyrus of Ani by E.A. Wallis Budge.
The text, from 1240 BC, features instructions intended to guide the deceased through the trials of the afterlife. The original band name is derived from a speech about being free of guilt, which is not directly related to the western notions of “sin.”
