I just received a still from the video for "Practice Crawling." It was filmed in LA by Rukshan Thenuwara, the same director who created the noir video for "El Cid," and it's amazing.

The video will be released in early December.

This song was recorded as an experiment. J'apprends le français. 🙂

The video for this song on YouTube was taken down due to a recording error. We're shooting it again. It's looking lovely out though so I imagine we'll have it up this week. I'll send out a tweet!

It set a precedent I think for future shoots too.

In the morning I made a few phone calls to friends looking for a production assistant. It was very last minute. No luck. My fault.

On Exchange Street, I flippantly mentioned the idea of hiring a bum. It was a joke but five seconds later, we were negotiating with this fire-headed, intoxicated man.

I balked, thinking him too drunk to do it. We offered him five bucks for a few minutes of work. He didn't ask what we wanted, he just said yes. I was surprised when he got up so easily. I told him I'd pay him ten.

It was continuous shot so he had to follow us down the street without direction and grab everything we dropped. He was perfect.

At the end, he had two stipulations: we weren't allowed to photograph him and we could only refer to him as "Red."

Too late to worry about that now. 🙂

Pop Culture Monster is a website created by two Irish gents, Ciarán Reinhardt and Ian Cummins. It's a fun read that's grown up quickly. In less than a year, they've added staff and amassed a wonderfully quirky reference on pop music and culture.

This time, it's one of the saddest songs of the year, Performing. Troy performed the song solo for the record and its lyrical content seems befitting of a video featuring building implosions, a mixed martial arts knockout, a surfing wipeout, and all things backwards.
