new cd | There Is No Sin https://thereisnosininmybody.com Music Sun, 10 Jul 2011 20:05:27 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=7.1 Where's The Book? https://thereisnosininmybody.com/2011/02/page-from-book/ https://thereisnosininmybody.com/2011/02/page-from-book/#respond Mon, 07 Feb 2011 19:22:44 +0000 http://thereisnosininmybody.com/?p=830 A few weeks back, I had mentioned that I would post
a page from We Are Revealed.

I never did...but I can explain.

There were some copyright concerns so I was told to hang loose, wait for the blahblahblah and the papermcwork and generally not be so jumpy.

Sorry...I know your day
hinged on this. 😉

Today, I've been alternating between the new Talib Kweli and the
very first SOAD. It's a fun
juxtaposition. I recommend it.

Website For The New Record https://thereisnosininmybody.com/2011/01/website-we-are-revealed/ https://thereisnosininmybody.com/2011/01/website-we-are-revealed/#comments Mon, 10 Jan 2011 02:22:43 +0000 http://thereisnosininmybody.com/?p=800 The engines have started to churn out stuff for the new record. The biggest change has been that there is a website now just for the disc.

The images were taken by a U.S. photographer who does a lot of work with the homeless. I'll pass on his info soon in a proper post. Seems like an amazing fellow.

Check out the website for We Are Revealed.

Lyric for the Title Track "We Are Revealed" https://thereisnosininmybody.com/2010/12/we-are-revealed-lyric/ https://thereisnosininmybody.com/2010/12/we-are-revealed-lyric/#respond Sun, 05 Dec 2010 14:45:24 +0000 http://thereisnosininmybody.com/?p=770 i was face down
on the floorboards
the last of the
night
we all have regrets
that we
need to take with us

i was under the chair
with my face
on the wood
in the cool,
i wanted to
know
forgetting

the furnace was
mumbling things
in the voice
of a dad
he wanted to give me
a chance
to undo this

the tiniest cut
on my finger
the part of a note
i had left
i needed the PA
to stop ringing

we all have regrets
that we need
to line the edge
of our path
we want to hold on
for some reason

i was under the chair
with my face
on the wood
i wanted to
know how it felt
to forget

Regrets & Effects https://thereisnosininmybody.com/2010/11/regrets-effects/ https://thereisnosininmybody.com/2010/11/regrets-effects/#respond Mon, 01 Nov 2010 15:35:32 +0000 http://thereisnosininmybody.com/?p=680 If you search for "There Is No Sin" on YouTube, you'll find two things:

  1. Our music videos, live shows and some fan made videos. Even an animation.
  2. Sermons, homophobic diatribes, Christian songs and a few indecipherable films from what appear to be the 70s.

This is where the topic of regret comes in. I'm an atheist. The band name has nothing to do with Western religion and, when I see the confusion, I vaguelly regret picking the band name.

So to be clear: it was a quote from the Egyptian Book of the Dead. A translated and illustrated text that I pored over as a kid. You can read the text of it here but it's pretty boring stuff without the hieroglyphs.

Backstage Video Exclusive at Pop Culture Monster https://thereisnosininmybody.com/2010/10/backstage-video/ https://thereisnosininmybody.com/2010/10/backstage-video/#respond Wed, 20 Oct 2010 13:10:38 +0000 http://thereisnosininmybody.com/?p=668 I had hesitations about putting out a video that some friends taped on a lark. It was shot with an iPhone, in a cramped hallway, it was awfully rough and a new song to boot.

Too late to worry about that now. 🙂

Pop Culture Monster is a website created by two Irish gents, Ciarán Reinhardt and Ian Cummins. It's a fun read that's grown up quickly. In less than a year, they've added staff and amassed a wonderfully quirky reference on pop music and culture.

Take a look at my video over on Pop Culture Monster and say hello to them.

End of Week One. Recording. https://thereisnosininmybody.com/2010/08/end-of-week-one-recording/ https://thereisnosininmybody.com/2010/08/end-of-week-one-recording/#respond Sun, 15 Aug 2010 14:32:55 +0000 http://thereisnosininmybody.com/?p=584 Pete likes to do things differently.

I didn't really know my songs until I had to pick them apart sonically. It was frustrating at first--especially when it came to timing--to be forced to listen for things that I had never stopped to notice.

I started to hear things that weren't there and make up progressions that were clearly misplaced. I had imagined that the guitars would take two days to get down. I was wrong. Very wrong. In one case, I had to protest and insist on a live recording. Pete wasn't happy with the idea.

Next week brings singing and hopefully others like Josh Madore who stop by and play along too.

And Here We Go. https://thereisnosininmybody.com/2010/06/and-here-we-go/ https://thereisnosininmybody.com/2010/06/and-here-we-go/#respond Tue, 29 Jun 2010 02:01:39 +0000 http://thereisnosininmybody.com/?p=552 It's been a long time since I've had to turn to a studio for help. I like the late-night, guerrilla recording method for most of my stuff. Not this record though.

There were too many people and too many instruments to consider. On top of this, the mastering guru Mark seems to have vanished inside a film project. I can hear him but the sound is rather faint.

So where am I going to record this disc? I have no idea but I hope to have it lined up for next month. 🙂

New CD Plans https://thereisnosininmybody.com/2010/04/new-cd-plans/ https://thereisnosininmybody.com/2010/04/new-cd-plans/#respond Wed, 14 Apr 2010 15:15:12 +0000 http://thereisnosininmybody.com/?p=521 Questions have been posed about the CD that we're planning for later in 2010.

This one is a bit different from the current disc. We're going to do a number of guest appearances with some Portland artists. Some pianos, some percussion, some banjo.

We'll see what happens. The live format won't change. We're sticking with the same, impromptu ethos.

The first CD is still in promotion by Clip Records with a slow roll-out through summer. It takes time for indie labels to get things done. 🙂

We'll have more news soon. If you want to say hi, I'm on Twitter.
